Long COVID patients can present with a wide range of symptoms and often experience limitations in day-to-day activities. In this webinar, we will explore the intricate landscape of Long COVID through a comprehensive lens. You will hear from physiatry, neuropsychology, and speech pathology disciplines as they delve into the multifaceted aspects of this condition, emphasizing a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to care.

Practitioners play an important role in assessing, treating and coordinating care for Long COVID patients. This webinar will uncover insights into the cognitive challenges, mental health implications, and psychosocial dimensions, equipping practitioners with the knowledge to navigate the complexities of Long COVID effectively.

Macey McKnight, M.A., CCC-SLP, is a dedicated and passionate Speech Language Pathologist. She obtained her Master’s in Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU). Additionally, Macey holds a graduate certificate in DeafBlindness from Texas Tech University. Macey is currently serving as a Speech Language Pathologist specializing in Neuro at Rehab Without Walls where she has been instrumental in pioneering innovative programs, such as the assistive technology and adaptive gaming programs available for patients in the Greater San Antonio Metropolitan area. In addition to her clinical work, Macey contributes to the academic community as an adjunct professor at OLLU in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department. In her free time, she holds the position of Vice President of the San Antonio Speech Hearing Language Association where she actively contributes to the growth and development of the speech and hearing community in the region. Macey has been treating COVID patients since 2020 and Long-COVID patients since 2022. She has been attending regular continuing education courses and researching to ensure her patients get the highest level of care grounded in evidence-based practice.
Michelle M. Haddad, Ph.D. is the Assistant Professor (Rehabilitation Medicine) at Emory Healthcare – Emory Brain Health Center and received her doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in medical/clinical psychology with a dual emphasis on rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology. She conducts neuropsychological assessments and brief psychotherapeutic intervention with inpatients undergoing comprehensive medical rehabilitation. She additionally conducts follow-up outpatient neuropsychological assessments with patients previously seen on the inpatient unit. Her research interests include the development of novel neuropsychological measures for use with inpatient rehabilitation populations, as well as predicting ecological outcomes of inpatient rehabilitation.
Dr. Monica Verduzco-Gutierrez is an accomplished academic Physiatrist and Professor and Distinguished Chair of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Long School of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She is also the Medical Director of Critical Illness Recovery and Neuro Rehabilitation at Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospitals in San Antonio and Chief of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation service line at the University Health Hospital system. She is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as on the board of trustees of the Association of Academic Physiatrists.
